IPL 2020: Kings XI Punjab team profile - KXIP Full squad, KXIP players to watch out for

Kings XI Punjab

IPL 2020: Ahead of IPL 2020, Kings XI Punjab took some tough calls including the trade of captain R Ashwin with the Delhi Capitals. They will be led by India wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul.

Kings XI Punjab repeated the IPL 2018 in IPL 2019. They had a good start, were some of the strongest contenders for the mid-league playoffs, but lost completely in the second half. They lost four in a row in the second leg and did not participate in the playoff round, and they had to settle for a sixth finish with six wins in 14 games.

Ahead of IPL 2020, the Punjab-based franchise has faced some difficulties, including captain R. Ashwin's swap with Delhi Capitals.

In IPL 2020, which is slated for early March 29, Kings XI Punjab will be led by Indian batsman, wicket keeper K.L. Rahul. He remained on the team alongside the likes of Chris Gale, Mayank Agarwal and Mohammed Shami.

The franchise has been linked to the likes of Glenn Maxwell, who will enjoy his second appearance with the franchise, Sheldon Cottrell, India U19 spinner Ravi Bishnoy, and young pacer Ishan Porel.

Kings XI Punjab have never won an IPL and only made it to the final once. Management will be hoping their great artists Gale and C.L. Rahul - will come to the fore and will perform consistently throughout the season.

FULL Squad

K.L. Rahul, Karun Nair, Mohammed Shami, Nicholas Puran, Mujib ur Rahman, Chris Gale, Mandip Singh, Mayank Agarwal, Hardus Viljoen, Darshan Nalkande, Sarfaraz Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Harprit Brar, Murugan Eshut Max. crore), Sheldon Cottrell (8.5 crore), Deepak Hoodah (50 lakh), Ishan Porel (20 lakh), Ravi Bishnoy (2 crore), James Nisham (50 lakh), Chris Jordan (3 crore), Tajinder Dillon ( 20 lakh), Prabhsimran Singh (55 lakh), Prabhsimran Singh, Agnivesh Ayachi, Harpreet Brar, Murugan Ashwin.

THREE FOREIGN PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR

Chris Gale

The explosive Chris Gale had a great 2019 IPL with 490 shots in 13 games on 151.02 shots. He scored four fifties and 34 sixes, with his best at 99. Gail will certainly be keen to give Kings XI Punjab a brilliant start in this IPL.

Glenn Maxwell

Maxwell did not participate in the last edition of the IPL, but the Australian station wagon is set to return to the tournament this season. However, the injury could force him to miss the first half of the tournament. Later this month, he will have elbow surgery. This will be Maxwell's second work with KXIP. It was bought by the franchise in 2014 and after a great season opening, it was released in 2018.

Nicholas Puran

Nicholas Puran was expected to be one of the biggest purchases for the Kings XI Punjab last season, but the West Indies left-hander failed to make an impact, scoring just 168 points in 7 games. KXIP, however, showed faith and kept him at IPL 2020.The 24-year-old Trinidadian will be looking to repay his faith with an impressive performance this season.

Three Indian Players To Watch Out For

K.L. Rahul

K.L. Rahul has found the right person for every situation for Team India over the past few months. He did hold wickets for KXIP in the last two seasons of the IPL, but this time the Karnataka cricketer was given responsibility for India, which he excelled at. Rahul was the best player in the series in the T20I series against New Zealand, which India won 5-0. This IPL will add responsibility for running KXIP at KL Rahul. He had a 2019 bumper IPL for KXIP, which became their most successful player with 593 runs in 14 games with a strike rate of 135.38.

Mohammed Shami

The Kings XI Punjab decided to leave Mohammed Shami after the paceman returned to India in the shortest format of the game. Shami had his best season in the IPL in the last edition of the tournament with KXIP. He played all 14 games - for the first time in his career - and scored 19 wickets at an economic odds of 8.68.

Ravi Bishnoy

With 17 wickets, 19-year-old spinner Ravi Bishnoy became the highest-scoring player in the 2020 ICC U19 World Cup, in which India came second behind eventual winners from Bangladesh. Deceiving Google and the ability to catch batsmen in the air, Bishnoi is expected to be one of the key weapons of the Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020.
